Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island

For nearly 100 years, the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island has fought to bring health care services closer to home and reduce barriers to access for children, youth, and families living in rural or remote communities.

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Support the foundation's mission.​

Association of Fundraising Professionals

The Association of Fundraising Professionals represents fundraising professionals across Vancouver Island, providing information, education, certification, job-postings and networking events for professional and volunteer fundraisers.

Board of Directors, President Elect (2024 - Present)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Assuming the role of President in January, 2025, to lead the Vancouver Island chapter.

Board of Directors, Program Chair (2024 - 2024)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Lead the organization and facilitation of programs and events

    • Lead the development of diverse and enriching programs to provide significant educational benefits to AFP Vancouver Island members

    • Oversee the planning and execution of chapter programs, such as National Philanthropy Day, and aligning them with the strategic goals of AFP

  • Collaborate to honour IDEA values

    • Work closely with the Board of Directors and various committees to ensure an IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access) centered approach in all programming and events

University of Victoria Women in Science

UVic Women in Science is a University of Victoria group dedicated to creating an inclusive and empowering environment that encourages collaboration and success for everyone pursuing STEM fields.

 

Advisory Board Member (2024 - Present)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Established an Advisory Board to support the group's longevity

  • Provide experienced advice to curent Directors

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Directed and and oversaw six committee Directors, Vice Presient, and Treasurer​

    • Supported Directors to lead committees (Admin, Finace, HR, Events, Communications, and Peer Mentorship Program)​

    • Delegated projects to Vice President

    • Provided strategic direction to Treasurer

    • Ensured a cohesive, respectable and inclusive work environment

    • Ensured a democratic and ethical environment

  • Implemented strategic growth initiatives group-wide and committee specific

    • Grew general membership through new recruitment and management practices​

    • Grew financial portofolio of $40k through establishing a fundraising plan

    • Grew social media analytics through rebranding

    • Grew personnel retention period through prioritizing open communication, autonomy, and passionate skill building

  • Established a General Agreement for the Directors

  • Established two new committees (Human Resources and Finance)

  • Established new managerial positions (e.g., Website Manager, Outreach Manager)

  • Recruited new Directors for each committee

  • Reallocated responsabilities appropriately among the committees

  • Successfully directed the Director of Human Resources in interanl dispute mitigation 

  • Established relationships with the Faculty of Science

  • Oversaw the management of a $25k endowment 

  • Acted as intrim Director of Events to organized and facilte the annual full-day WIS Research Symposium

  • Restructured and established the group's organizational practices

    • Implemented group-wide and committee specifiec SOPs

    • Restrucutred the digital filing system​

    • Implemented a new, cohesive system of communication platforms

Students Above Stigma

Students Above Stigma is a University of Victoria group with a mission to eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health conditions by translating and mobilizing accredited, scientific knowledge to the lay public, fostering a well-informed community empowered to support mental well-being.

  • Established an Advisory Board to support the group's longevity

  • Provide experienced advice to curent Directors

Revitilization Committee Member (2024)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Established the Revitalization Committee to revive the group with an informed approac

  • Sucessfulluy developped and implemented a strategic 6 month revitalization plan

  • Founded the group during the COVID-19 pandemic

    • Established the organizational structure and functioning using leading practivies​

    • Established all major projects and operations

Canadian Bioethics Society | Société canadienne de bioéthique

The Canadian Bioethics Society is a national, registered charity serving as a forum for individuals to share ideas relating to bioethics through being the leading bioethics collaborative forum in Canada working towards advancing the health and well-being of people at home and abroad.

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Advocate for excellence in bioethics education, research, and policy

  • Remain engaged in the advancement and dissemination of leading practices in bioethics, the examination of professional issues in bioethics, and the public engagement and policy development around bioethics issues

Psi Chi, International Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi is an international honor society that serves to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

  • Advocate for academic excellency in the discipline of psychology​​

  • Remain engaged in the advancement of research in psychology

Past Positions

NEED2 (National Mental Health Suicide Prevention and Crisis Chat)

NEED2 works to prevent deaths by suicide through community programs and an online presence through providing accessible emotional and crisis support by engaging the community and advancing the dialogue.

 

Social Media Ambassador (2023 - 2024)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Maintained the organization's social media image through curating educational content​​

Chat Attendant (2021 - 2022)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • De-escalated visitors (age 15-30) in crisis for 60-120 mintutes​

  • Implement crisis and self-harm interventions

  • Implement suicide prevention plans

The Risky Behaviour Lab

The Risky Behaviour Lab is a research lab aimed at understanding when and why people deliberately engage in behaviours that are physically harmful to themselves.

  • Assisted with research related to suicidal and self-harming behaviours​​

Victoria Brain Injury Society

The Victoria Brain Injury Society's mission is to support, educate, advocate and provide housing assistance for brain injury survivors and their families to increase community awareness about brain injuries and reduce the harmful stigma experienced by survivors.

Intake Volunteer (2021 - Promoted to paid position)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Conducted intake interviews with perspective clients and their family members​​

The Christie Laboratory

The Christie Lab studies a variety of forms of neuroplasticity, including synaptic plasticity, metaplasticity, and neurogenesis, to better understand both the intrinsic processing capacities of the brain, how it responds to injury, and it’s capacity for self-repair.

Research Assistant (2021 - 2022)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Assisted with research aimed at improving cognitive rehabilitation following an acquired brain injury through the application of NeuroTracker

Vancouver Island Health Authority

Island Health's purpose includes innovation, teaching and research. The Research & Capacity Building department supports research across the region to improve health and promote wellness in our communities.

Research Assistant (2021 - 2022)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Assisted with research porject pertaining to integration of mindfulness with sensory regulation to improve instrumental activities of daily living for clients with post concussion/central sensitization​​

New College Worcester (UK)

New College Worcester is an independent boarding and day school in England for students, aged 11–19, who are blind or partially sighted.

Live-in Community Service Volunteer (2018 - 2019)

Contributions and responsibilities:

  • Cared for students who are blind with comorbid disorders and challenges​​​

  • Tutored French language

  • Oversaw fitness activites

  • Guided students on local and international excursions​
